Haute and Cold

You’re hot and your cold, you’re yes and you’re no. This to me, frankly is what best describes what went down at JPG during Paris Fashion Week. The supposedly can-can inspired creations and English punk-rock (which can also be seen in his s/s 2011 collection) were reasonably same-y to his previous shows despite the new inspirations.

However, I have to say I was quite uninspired. The swirly, rainbow patterned attire in silk, tulle and leather left little to the imagination (literally). Although I don’t wish to sound deriding about such an evidently gifted man, this seemed to me something I had already seen before. Ironically, in haute couture it’s actually harder than it seems to fabricate designs. In casualwear there are so many options, whereas in haute couture you have limited resources and cannot simply produce an LBD. What did you think of the collection? Too ‘out there’ or just right?

P.S – The runway show was held in former French Communist Head Quarters.
